West Coast Fly Fishing

Nootka Sound Resort's proximity to the surrounding rivers and steams makes it the ideal home base for the fly fishing enthusiast. These pristine waterways are teeming with Chinook, Coho, Chum and trout, providing anglers with excellent freshwater fishing experiences from April to October.

Anglers often find themselves alone with the bears and fish. Specially licensed freshwater guides and even helicopters are available for remote and otherwise inaccessible waters. Our favorite river, which has very easy access, allows retention of salmon starting September 1st, as well as the usual year-round retention of trout. Freshwater and saltwater fishing excursions can be combined into one trip.

Some anglers will bring a 7-weight or heavier rod for salmon and as light as a three or four for trout. It is often possible to float a single egg pattern through a run black with salmon to catch trout from among them.

Take advantage of our special shoulder season rates
before July 15th and after September 1st 2010!
